I now have no volume slider and the sound still wasn't working. Everytime I tried to troubleshoot it just said "Audio Services not responding" I tried following this guide:

I figured it was my onboard audio that died and bought a new sound card today (Asus Xonar u7) I installed the drivers for it and I can see it under Playback devices, but still no sound. Still no volume slider and when I try to trouble shoot it's still saying "Audio Services not responding".
I tried the Audio Services not responding guide again, but still no results.
I'm at a loss on what else to try, any ideas?
