Køb laptop fra USA?

Af Ny på siden lauris47 | 13-08-2010 14:54 | 2793 visninger | 22 svar, hop til seneste
Hey ! Ok so I'm new in this country and don't know nothing. It was even hard to find this forum. My question is what custom fees I have to pay, if I'm buying laptop from USA ? I went to denmark post but they couldn't answer me so gave me customs telefon "70 21 80 70" ,I called , but after 4 minutes no one answered. Originally I'm from Lithuania and when I bought laptop there from USA I had to pay 21% of laptop price + shipping cost. Also if someone is interested I'm selling my Asus g71: Asus G71GX gx05 500gb hdd ; geforce gtx 260m gt 1gb vram ; 6gb ram ; 2.53 dualcore but with one button overclocks too 2.83 ; 17.3 inch screen. I have advertisement here : http://www.dba.dk[...] Danish auto translate : Hey!

Wow, im glad that you also posted the original text, and not only the Danish auto translated one, because that practically makes no sense. To answer your question, as far as i know you will have to pay: Vat/Tax 12% - and after that moms 25%. So first you will have the 12% VAT included into the price, and after that Moms will be added to the price.

Thanks, but let me understand it more correctly. So I'm buying and paying like this ; (Product+shipping price) + 12% and then (Product+shipping price + 12%) + 25% = total ? So it would be like this. I pay 1000 kr it would be 1000+120 then 1120+280= 1400 ? OMG so it's like half of the price..

#2 I really can't believe that. I don't know if I'm totally sure either, but here's what I think he means: The usual tax you pay when you buy the item, is the local tax you have to pay in the US. That said, you don't need to pay an extra 12% when shipping into Denmark. You do, however, have to pay the Danish tax (moms) on 25%, so an item that would cost you a total of 1000 kr., would end up costing 1250 kr. ...that, and a small fee for having the item you've bought checked at the customs. As far as I am aware, the only thing you need to pay for, is the "moms" in Denmark. ...on the other hand, if you're lucky enough, they will ship the laptop in an anonymous package, and it will go straight through the customs - no extra charges, but ONLY if you're lucky! #3 I stand corrected then. ;P

#4 ...in connection, I can see that on http://www.supergaver.dk[...] they say that you have to pay both told (custom's special-fee-of-pain-and-sorrow; lack of words) and "moms".

@bQnne Haha I'm bad with luck. When I bought my laptop from usa in Lithuania I payed 1200 kr taxes + ~800 for shipment. Package was marked as gift from private person, there was letter inside with "happy birthday from matas" inside, so in Lithuania there is no way to bypass taxes. But still I'm not so sure about here. It could be great if they answer my call...

#6 Well i've heard about stories, where companies have sent packages from US to Denmark, where it was gift wrapped or with some sort of birthday card, and no tax or anything was being applied.. But these are all just stories, i have yet to hear from some real person (and not a friend of his wifes, cousins uncles best friend from the Vietnam war).

@Demo It is not a stories, you can not to pay taxes if product is cheap I don't know how in here Denmark, but in Lithuania if you buy below ~ 80$ from outside EU you won't pay any taxes. As example I bought cigar pipe which I'm selling right now :D from china two weeks ago (I'm here just 1 month) and got it today in the morning, I didn't payed any taxes.

#8 Yea i know if its under 167 kr or something like that you don't have to pay any taxes.. I was more hinting at people having bought laptops or other more expensive things, that has avoided tax..

@demo It could be great to bypass those insane taxes, but as I mentioned I payed before huge taxes 1200 kr (it is like half of normal salary in Lithuania), so I don't want to risk. Plus I would like to buy expensive laptop asus g73 (quad core 2.8, 8gb ram, ATI 5870 1gbvram) So currently I still don't know what to do. And there is package of how chinese selling. I gave them my current Danish address, but as you'll see it was marked to send to Lithuania. http://a.imageshack.us[...]

Maybe http://shopusa.com[...] could be an option. The package you order will be send to them, and they will ship it to you. Maybe that could be an option to avoid the tax..

@demo Thanks demo. but still price will be insane for me. I calculated if my laptop would cost 1000 usd I would pay for shipment to Denmark DKK 2148.83, and of course there will be shipping cost to that company ~50$. Total would be around the same as sending directly to my address. But what if I try to cheat on that company and enter price like $500 or even less ? :D i think I'll contact them and ask if this is possible. thanks again.

Buy your laptop in Denmark? Or drive to Germany and purchase one there?... Or you could even visit America and buy one? =) If I still lived there I'd be happy to bring one back for you since I went back and forth every 6 months, but I moved here semi-permanently last year. Anyway; the whole shipment plan sounds like a bad idea for 2 reasons. 1) It will probably end up costing you more, or close to, the same amount of money that the product costs here in Denmark. Secondly, in case (with your luck as you stated) you need to use your warranty you have to ship it overseas (unless they have universal warranty like MSI, Asus and others) -Disturbed Freak

@Disturbed-Freak I couldn't find asus g73 in Denmark as cheap as in usa. I'm a student I don't have money to travel to America. LOL I have 2500 kr and my laptop witch I'm selling. I hope I get job soon.. And I'm not worrying about warranty at all. Asus makes good reliable products. My cousin uses asus laptop for 4 years and didn't had any problems. I have asus g71 and it is awesome too, just wanting more powerful. Or I just need to forget all and just chill.

If you are a student and have no money that is one hell of a laptop to spend money on if this is the one :P http://www.edbpriser.dk[...] Especially when you could get even more power in a desktop for less than half the price. But yes, 14.300 in Denmark VS 10.000 in America is a huge difference. Long live socialism and its taxes.

In america I could get g73 for ~$ 1200 with shipment. I could buy it if I sell my asus g71, but the problem is Denmark taxes. And yes I could buy normal pc but it is not good solution for a student. Ok thanks all, I think I need to forget my "plan" and be happy with what I have. Thanks
