Best known for its ability to assemble high-performance desktop and laptop computers with impressive specifications and cutting edge technology, Alienware has introduced the surprisingly petite Sentia m3200 ultraportable. Equipped with a 12.1-inch widescreen, the notebook incorporates several traits typical of Alienware's knack for performance, such as maxing out at 240 GB of hard drive space, tri-mode Wi-Fi and more.
Offering a choice of 1.5 through 2.0 GHz processors, the Sentia m3200 can be configured with up to 2 GB of 533 MHz DDR2 SDRAM from a base configuration of 256 MB. Unusually for an Alienware product, the 12.1-inch widescreen display with a WXGA resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels is powered by an Intel GMA 900 chipset, sharing up to 128 MB of system memory.
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the notebook is its potential for a maximum configuration of of 240 GB of storage, entailing dual drives spinning at 5,400 RPM. The base configuration is far more modest at 40 GB; either choice is backed up by a drive bay hosting either a standard CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive or an optional Dual Layer DVD drive.
At 11.5 x 9 x 1.8 inches and 4 pounds, the Sentia m3200 also includes a number of other highlights such as optional, tri-mode Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g and a PCI Express expansion slot as well as VGA and S-Video out. The ultraportable can be had with either Windows XP Home, Professional or - surprisingly - Media Center Edition.
Now available in the US, the Alienware Sentia m3200 starts at $1,150 USD, ranging all the way to $2,450 USD with a maximum configuration.
